Record your inspiration

How do I record my sound?

Press the big recording button on your profile page, you will see an interface in two rows: above you have controls for the metronome and below a volume indicator.

Adjust the metronome (that’s the tempo) by pressing “minus” or “plus” buttons, in order to decrease/slow down or increase/speed up. You will see the exact speed written as bpm, beats per minute. When you have tuned the tempo, press “Rec” and you will start recording. You have one minute available for your music. A timer shows how much time you have left and a signal bar shows you the volume of your input. A bar that doesn’t move much means you’d better make more noise!

When your recording is finished press “Stop”. Select which part of the whole you want to keep by moving the two small blue marks to the start and the end), then press the “save” button. You will be prompted to choose a name and some tags for your recording, finally press “save” again and you are done.

Why do I have to use earphones?

When you are adding your music to an existing track, using earphones avoids your recording wiping the original.

How can I add my sound to another track?

Making a contribution to your friend’s thound is easy: just select the audio sample you want to work on, then record your inspiration.

Once you have made your recording you may want to adjust its start to exactly match a specific point. To do this, click on “lines are not in synch” which will show you a slider that helps move your start to the desired position.

When you have found the right place, press “save” to confirm and you will be prompted to choose a name and some tags for your line, finally press “save” and you are done.

What are the Tags?

Tags are a list of words that describe your recording, they can be the specific name of instrument, the genre, the influence, etc. Tags are extremely useful when browsing or searching recordings because they give extra information about your samples.
